The first time I had heard of Milton Glaser was when I was doing my thesis on failure. During my research, he quickly became one of my favorite designers. For those that don’t know, Glaser is most well-known for designing the “I Love New York” logo, The New York Magazine logo and if you google Bob Dylan Poster, you’ll see a lot of results of his design. Milton Glaser has attributed embracing failure as a means to how he became so successful. I remember when I brought him up for my thesis presentation, one of my professors couldn’t fathom that Milton Glaser ever failed when it comes to design. When Glaser made “mistakes” in design, he doesn’t give up, he would make it an opportunity or try something else. Even though, it didn’t seem like it from the outside world. In a way, my thesis wouldn’t exist without him. There will never be another Milton Glaser and he left an indelible mark in the graphic design industry.
